FRESH CIRCUS#5: ready, set, go!

REGISTRATION TO FRESH CIRCUS#5 – International Seminar for the Development of Circus Arts – IS OPEN and the PRE-PROGRAMME IS ONLINE, along with practical information and accommodation recommendations!  

Co-organised by Circostrada, ARTCENA and CIRCa – National Pole for Circus, the 5th edition, themed “Circus is everywhere!” will take place in Auch (France) from 22 to 24 October 2019, in the frame of the Festival for Contemporary Circus

This is the not-to-be-missed event for the circus sector and this new edition is going to blow your mind in many ways! FRESH CIRCUS#5 will feature rich and diverse contents, a great artistic programme, some informal times to network with circus professionals, project presentations, case studies with presenters and artists coming from all around the globe, and many more surprises!

FRESH STREET #5 The International Conference for the Development of Outdoor Arts is back for its fifth edition on May 28-29-30, 2025!

Co-organised by Circostrada Network and Out There Arts in the frame of Out There Festival, in partnership with Outdoor Arts UK, this not-to-be-missed “rendez-vous” will bring together key European and international players, artists, programmers, producers, researchers, and policy-makers for three days of dynamic discussions and stimulating exchanges on how we can imagine the outdoor arts of tomorrow. 

The event is co-funded by the European Union, the French Ministry of Culture, Arts Council England, the National Lottery Heritage Fund and Without Walls, The Hippodrome and HH producties.

WELCOME TO MARSEILLE

Register for Circostrada Network's (coordinated by ARTCENA) Annual General Meeting taking place in Marseille (France) from January 22 to 24, 2025, co-organised with Archaos Pôle National Cirque, in the frame of BIAC - Biennale Internationale des Arts du Cirque (from January 9 to February 9, 2025) and its Professional Meeting (from January 21 to 25, 2025), in partnership with Lieux Publics - European and national center for creation in public space, IN SITU - European platform for artistic creation in public space and FAI-AR - Formation supérieure d’art en espace public.

Africa Unite

The Africa Unite Association was founded in 2010 in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso. Its aim is to provide training and promote culture. It has been the secretariat of the Fédération des acteurs du cirque de la région des Hauts Bassins since its creation in November 2021. It produces the Bobo-Dioulasso Circus Arts Festival in partnership with the Bobo Dioulasso ERJD.  The 9th edition is scheduled to run from 13 to 18 November 2023. It supports the creative projects of Burkinabè companies, providing advice and setting up partnerships with partner structures.

APCC

The Association of Circus Professionals of Catalonia (APCC) is a non-profit organisation that seeks to promote and raise awareness of the circus in the cultural, social and economic life of Catalonia. For 20 years, the APCC has been the backbone of the sector, representing its different professional branches. With nearly 400 associate members, the APCC represents the circus sector in Catalonia in all its diversity.

Funnybones Production

Le Castrum

Castrum is a multidisciplinary festival with a strong emphasis on committed, diverse and contemporary artistic programming. Most of the festival is free, and most of it takes place in public spaces in the historic centre of Yverdon-les-Bains.

Castrum hosts around thirty artistic projects - theatre, dance, circus, music and workshops - in a dozen venues. The artists take over the city, its neighbourhoods, spaces and streets, transforming and rediscovering them while questioning our relationship with the world. Accessibility and proximity are central to Castrum, and the festival's aim is to highlight the human element, living together and conviviality.

Riksteatern

Riksteatern is Sweden’s largest producing touring theatre, a publicly funded theatre institution. Riksteatern is constituted as civil society organisation with approx. 38 000 members organised in 220 theatre associations all over Sweden. Riksteatern’s vision is dramatic art that sets thoughts and emotions in motion – for everyone, everywhere. Riksteatern has extensive international activities, including a multiannual cooperation with theatres in Finland. Tyst Teater (silent theatre), which has been performing for both deaf and hearing people since 1977, and the Cullberg Ballet are both part of Riksteatern. Since 2021, Riksteatern has been assigned by the Swedish government to develop and promote Circus as an art form equal to theatre, dance and music.

Zirkus On

Zirkus ON is a creation programme founded in 2019 to support circus arts productions in Germany. The creation alliance accompanies each year three new artistic projects selected by a multidisciplinary jury from the project’s initial research phase to the final presentation for a period of two years.

The next General Meeting of the network will take place in Karlsruhe and Rastatt (Germany) from May 28th to June 1st 2024, co-organised with TOLLHAUS | Karlsruhe and zweifellos.net, in the frame of ATOLL extra and tête-à-tête festival

To properly celebrate the third and last General Meeting of the CS Body/ies project, we have prepared an exciting agenda that you cannot possibly miss!

The FRESH 2023 event will also be an opportunity to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Circostrada network, which has been promoting the development, strengthening and recognition of these sectors on a European and international scale since 2003, and which currently brings together over 150 members in 45 countries.
The online exchange, moderated by Stéphane Segreto-Aguilar, coordinator of the Circostrada network and head of international development at ARTCENA, will first review the issues at stake in the programme, its partners and the registration calendar.

AY-ROOP

Ay-Roop welcomes, supports and promotes circus artists but also implements contemporary circus in the Breton territory. Multiple-faced, Ay-Roop is working as a producer and touring agent for circus companies, but also as a programmer and a cultural agent for local audiences. The organisation is working all year long in collaboration with local partners and setting up a pre-summer festival in Rennes region. In charge of new metropolitan equipment in 2024, the place is aiming to become the future focus point of contemporary circus in Brittany.

DON SEN FOLO

Through its experiences of creation, production, diffusion, sharing and training, Don Sen Folo, has been specialising in the field of contemporary dance creation in common spaces (public space) In Situ / In Vivo. This choice of specialisation is the fruit of the following reflection and observation: to contribute to the development of the creative sector it must be ensured that Malian and African artists can train, inform themselves, learn, communicate and transmit their know-how and their creations in a space that belongs to all, a public space with free access for all citizens.

Le PALC

Le Palc is a national centre of Circus production was awarded the label "Pôle National Cirque" in 2019. It aims to be a reference centre for circus innovation for professionals in the circus world. Le Palc is working to develop new forms of circus axes :  to support contemporary circus creators ; to dedicate to educational and artistic actions ; to present artistic works.

SPASA

SPASA is an international two-week street arts training. Taking advantage of two important stage events that take place in the region of Lleida in a short period of time, four companies will perform for an audience interested in creating in public space. SPASA believe that street arts should be based on a theoretical and practical specialisation of their performers. Committed to a 360º vision of the sector, they want to work on the different disciplines that make up the street arts. In each edition of SPASA they delve into the practical work and tools used by different internationally recognised companies and professionals in the sector.

Stockholm City Theater 

Kulturhuset Stadsteatern is one of Northern Europe's largest cultural institutions. The activities include libraries, debates, art exhibitions, film, dance, circus and music. Stockholm CityTheatre is part of Kulturhuset Stadsteatern and offers the audience of Stockholm theatre and musicals all year round. As part of the membership in Circostrada we represent one leg of Kulturhuset Stadsteatern which is called ”Parkteatern” – outdoor theatre in the parks during the summer season. Parkteatern also has a certain mission of programming circus in our indoor venues the rest of the year. This started in 2021.
