WHAT IS SWITCH

Glossary

  • Job shadowing: it is a type of on-the-job training, a practical way of learning about a specific job, activity, skill, methodology or practice, by following and observing other professionals in their work environment.
  • Beneficiary: Circostrada members
  • Sustainable mobility: sustainable mobility is a concept that has emerged in the wake of sustainable development issues. It includes the design, implementation and management of modes of transport that are deemed to be less harmful to the environment, in particular with a lower contribution to greenhouse gas emissions.

WHAT IT IS?

Switch is a job-shadowing programme allowing Circostrada members to benefit from cross-mobilities throughout the course of the CS BODY/IES project and experience a new type of professional exchange.

Switch is a booster for new collaborations and professional development, giving network members the opportunity to travel, meet other peers, exchange good practices and knowledge and discover different professional realities. The programme aims at facilitating intercultural dialogue and understanding, as well as reinforcing professionalisation of circus and outdoor arts workers at European and international levels.

Switch is based on the principle of reciprocity, meaning that mobilities must be twinned between two participating organisations. In practice: each organisation must agree to host its partner and to be hosted in return. This applies for any individual team member of each organisation.

HOW LONG CAN THE EXCHANGE BE?

Each exchange must last at least one week but the beneficiaries can decide to stay longer if agreed with their partners. Both mobilities must take place within a year (12 months), starting from the date of the first exchange.

WHAT SHOULD BE DELIVERED AFTER THE MOBILITY?
  • Following the mobility, each beneficiary must write an article to be published on the Circostrada Blog. Each article must be around 3.500 signs (spaces included) and must be delivered maximum 1 month after the end of the mobility. Guidance will be provided to help the beneficiary write the article. Please note that the mobility grant will be allocated upon reception of the article.
  • The beneficiaries will also have to present their experience during the General Meetings of Circostrada.

How to apply

WHO CAN YOU APPLY AND HOW?

All network’s members can apply via the application form HERE.

Given the limited number of grants, the coordination team and steering committee will select applicants on the following criteria:

  • Motivation of the applicants
  • Quality and relevance of the proposed mobility programme
  • Concrete expected outcome(s) of the mobility programme

The coordination team and steering committee will ensure that the programme is representative of the diversity of countries, sectors, backgrounds, genders, and identities.

PREREQUISITE
  • As the programme is based on reciprocity, members will be asked to register in pairs and to explain why they wish to present their joint application to the programme.
  • Selected members will be requested to submit a draft programme of the first mobility, including a provisional schedule of meetings and activities.
  • Applicants must carry out their cross-mobility within one year of the approval of their application.

Help, support, questions, supervision:

The coordination team is at the disposal of the applicants for any question or advice regarding the content and format of the draft programme.

A member who would like to apply but who doesn’t have yet a paired partner can also contact the coordination team who will try to facilitate connexions between network members.

CALENDAR

Members will have the opportunity to apply at any moment during the year. The application form will remain open during the whole duration of the CS BODY/IES project.

Selected candidates will each benefit from a 700€ mobility grant (all taxes included) maximum. The grant can cover transport and/or accommodation.

For environmental reasons, the network particularly encourages beneficiaries to travel over land, e. g. by train, which is widely accepted as the least polluting means of transport. Hence, the grant amount will depend on the following specific rules:

The network understands that some members might not have access to green transportation, and will thus be vigilant not to discriminate against any region or city. Candidates who depend only on planes for international mobility will be able to benefit from a mobility grant just like any other candidate;
