Connect with South African Contemporary Circus and Outdoor Arts

In March 2024, Circostrada members embarked on an inspiring journey through South Africa’s contemporary circus and outdoor arts scene. Collaborating with key cultural institutions—including the Forgotten Angle Theatre Collaborative’s My Body My Space: Public Arts Festival, Zip Zap Circus, and the Center for the Less Good Idea—participants had the unique opportunity to connect with leading voices in these sectors. Curated by renowned playwright and producer Mike Van Graan, this research trip marked the conclusion of the Global Crossing series, part of Circostrada's CS BODY/IES project.

Now, through our upcoming publication, you can dive into the insights gathered during this transformative experience. Explore the rich history, current challenges, and inspiring perspectives shaping South Africa’s artistic landscape. Whether you’re a cultural professional or simply curious about this vibrant creative ecosystem, this publication will offer a unique window into the world of contemporary circus and outdoor arts in South Africa.
