A venue for circus, street arts, and training in Amiens and the Hauts-de-France region.
Cirque Jules Verne is a unique cultural institution in France where circus arts, street and public space arts, and training come together. With several locations in Amiens, it contributes to the personal growth of individuals by showcasing the diversity of contemporary creation. It has been recognized as a Pôle National Cirque (National Circus Center) since 2011. Its circus season offers a varied program that highlights the richness of modern circus, with a particular focus on young audience creations. It also features a significant number of circular performances, either created or adapted for the ring. The Winter Circus, built in 1889, is a landmark of the city, and is also one of the favorite gathering spots for the people of Amiens.
Street arts and public space performances are also at the heart of the Cirque Jules Verne project. Le Hangar, a creation venue dedicated to street arts, hosts artists-in-residence throughout the year. Cirque Jules Verne also offers regular public space programming, especially in June during Les Tentaculaires. Created in 1978 under the name La Fête dans la Ville (The Party in the City), later renamed La Rue est à Amiens (The Street is in Amiens), the festival brings the city and its inhabitants to life with around forty performances and over a hundred shows over three days.
Cirque Jules Verne NOMADE is a regional diffusion and artistic action initiative, in collaboration with numerous cultural partners, which brings circus performances and street arts to the heart of the Hauts-de-France territories.
The École du Cirque Jules Verne (Jules Verne Circus School) is a preparatory training center for higher education institutions. Approved by the Ministry of Culture, the School prepares students for prestigious circus schools. It is an additional asset in supporting the many artistic education missions carried out by Cirque Jules Verne.
