Circo e dintorni have been producing for years circus-theatre shows performed all around the world. We join tradition and innovation in circus arts. The artistic director Alessandro Serena, Professor of Circus History, belongs to a traditional circus family (he is Moira Orfei’s nephew) and he was one of the first contributors to the development of nouveau cirque in Italy, collaborating with the Biennale di Venezia.
Our project Open Circus is supported by the Italian Ministry of Culture. The aims are spreading circus culture through the audience development and promoting the generational turnover. We create events in important theatres and festivals, with social circus realities or in circus schools and universities. We organize Study Days at the University of Milan, workshops, meetings and conferences. Open Circus has been involving tens of thousands of spectators, especially young people.
