The Federal Association of Contemporary Circus (German: Bundesverband Zeitgenössischer Zirkus e.V., short: BUZZ) is a German network and information platform for all professionals in the field of contemporary circus, as well as contact from the sector for the politics, media and for research matters in Germany.Since 2011, BUZZ connects and collects information regarding the scene and publishes them open for all to access on their website and social media channels.

BUZZ works for the visibility of contemporary circus as part of the performing arts and publishes among others a circus mapping and calendar on their website.

With the help of the 'Manifesto for contemporary circus in Germany', it wishes to emphasize the need for a change in the arts sector, requesting equal access to funding, venues and artistic infrastructure.

Since 2020 the BUZZ is associated member of the 'German Association of Independent Performing Arts' (short: BFDK) and active in several groups to lobby for matters of the contemporary circus in Germany in contact with local policy-makers.

Furthermore, BUZZ coordinates several so called 'Städtepole' (regional division) in Germany to help develop the contemporary circus scene on a local level. In the event format 'Round Tables' it connects local professionals to meet up and exchange experience and share resources on current issues. The 'Städtepole' are organized in the following cities (as of August 2023) by the coordinators of the regional divisions (contact by mail [city]@bu-zz.de)

Berlin | Hamburg | Bremen | Köln (Cologne ) | Leipzig | München ( Munich ) | Ruhr (Ruhr-area) | Darmstadt | Freiburg | Stuttgart

From 2022 onward the contemporary circus creation network 'Zirkus ON', which originated out of the BUZZ members in 2018, will act as an independent association (e.V.), but remain in close collaboration with the BUZZ.

Berlin | Cox Ahlers, Marina Rieger
Hamburg | Andrée Wenzel
Cologne | Tim Behren, Jenny Patschovsky, Christoph Rummel
