Background

The issue of welcoming rules and membership has been tackled by members and new comers during past meetings. The General Secretariat HorsLesMurs receives more and more informal applications from organisations active in the fields of street arts and circus, which are working on the development of international cooperation projects, keen to participate in our activities.

An internal working group has been working on membership criteria and regulations. This working group was composed of: Subtopia (Sweden) – La Cascade (France) – HorsLesMurs (France) – Articulation (UK) – FiraTarrega (Spain) – Cirkoskop (Czech Republic) – Theater op de Markt (Belgium)

Key aspects of the network

- Circostrada Network is a platform representing both street arts and circus: these two artistic sub-sectors are close/ mixed in many countries
- Until 2008, the policy was to welcome 1 or 2 members only per country (depending on the area of expertise) – but members expressed their wish to welcome more organisations in order to increase networking opportunities, discover new contexts and projects, and share the benefits of Circostrada Network with more cultural workers. Since then, meetings are open to more organisations, international project holders and local stakeholders.
