General Meeting at Cirque-Théâtre d'Elbeuf

Elbeuf, France
December 5-7, 2018

Presentation

We’ll be heading West for this General Meeting, during which we will offer you to undertake a journey to discover the Normandy region – a territory of artistic exchanges and innovation. Co-organised with Cirque-Théâtre d’Elbeuf, this meeting will be focused on "Circus and Cultural Heritage", with a travelling programme around three key cultural venues of the “Metropolis Rouen Normandie”:

  • DAY 1 at Cirque-Théâtre d’Elbeuf - National Centre for the Circus Arts in Normandy, one of the eight remaining ‘free standing’ circuses in France. It is the only one to have both a circus ring as well as an Italian style stage (proscenium stage), making it a truly unique space and heritage building dating back to 1892. Co-organiser of SPRING, festival celebrating new forms in circus arts in Normandy with La Brèche in Cherbourg as part of the platform “2 Pôles cirque en Normandie”.
  • DAY 2 at Atelier 231, a former railway industry site, now converted into a French National Centre for Street Arts and Arts in Public Space (one of the 14 CNAREP - Centres nationaux des arts de la rue et de l'espace public)
  • DAY 3 at Regional knowledge hub (Pôle Régional des Savoirs), to explore the links between contemporary circus and heritage through the examples of the SPRING festival, circus shows performed in incredible locations such as Mont Saint-Michel, and the work of circus artists who design in situ performances in partnership with the Centre des Monuments Nationaux.

You will have the chance to better grasp the nature and singularities of the area surrounding the Cirque Théâtre d’Elbeuf, notably through visits of venues dedicated to circus and street arts, meetings with local artists and the discovery of an artistic programme combining shows and works-in-progress!

Come and register now!
